Dana McNeil is a 4th generation San Diegan, and the people and character of this city are an integral part of who she is and has influence Dana as a therapist. Specializing in couples work, LBGTQIA clients, addiction recovery, and trauma, grief, and loss, Dana provides psychotherapy for couples, families, and individuals.
Dana’s style of therapy with couples is an evidence-based therapy style known as Gottman Method for healthy relationships. This evidence based-practice utilizes a concept known as the Sound Relationship House, which focuses on nine areas of relationship work. Dana McNeil works together with Couples on providing a stronger sense of each partner’s needs, creating shared meanings, and working out issues regarding conflict, trust and commitment.
Dana also works with individuals who are on their journey of recovery from addiction. Dana often works with clients who are family members or partners of addicted individuals to provide them a safe place to process feelings and changes that arise from the process of recovery. Dana will help you look at the frightening or hidden parts of your life about which you have been in denial now that you are in sobriety.
Dana is a member of International Association of Trauma Professionals (IATP). Dana can provides many evidence-based tools to help you find a way to ground yourself when recovering from trauma, grief, or loss.

Dana’s goal in therapy is to provide a safe space for you to be yourself, help you discover your strengths, and help you develop insight and acceptance of life lessons in given situations.
